The Greenworks 25022 is a 20 inch, corded electric mower. It’s best suited to small yards but many customers use it for medium sized lots of land as well by attaching a simple extension cord.
Usually, we are not big fans of corded mowers but we have to concede that they have one huge benefit over other electric mowers, be it gas or battery powered. Corded models have no range limit! You can use them for as long as you want. There’s no need to worry about whether or not the battery is charged and you don’t have to top it up with gas every now and then.
A gas powered mower is preferred by many people as it’s perceived to be more rugged and powerful.
However, electric mowers have caught up and are at par with most gas powered mowers (some are actually more convenient). Gas powered mowers vibrate a lot more compared to electric models and they also create a huge din.
Your neighbor’s will hate you for the noise. Yes, we still recommend gas powered mowers for commercial properties and huge plots of land. However, the fact is that for most urban and semi-urban residential properties with small to medium sized yards, an electric mower does the job just right.
The Greenworks 25022 has many feathers in its hat – for starters, it provides very good coverage with a 20 inch deck. Most mowers are usually 21 inches but the one inch difference is negligible and frankly, it’s not even noticeable to the naked eye.
The 25022 has electric start and is powered by a 12 Amp motor. All these things make it a great mower for small plots. If you’re looking cordless electric mowers, Greenworks has several models in their line-up and we’ve reviewed some of them on this website.
Feel free to look them up. However, there’s a reason the 25022 is one of the best selling lawn mowers in the country. Let’s find out why…
Greenworks 25022 Features:
No Battery: No need to charge! A big advantage of corded connections is that they supply the mower with constant power all the time. Mowers that have batteries suffer from poor performance as the power begins to drain. Also, with the 25022, there’s no limit on how long you can use the mower for. Say you have a medium sized yard that takes 30 minutes to mow. You own a mower that has a running time of 40 minutes. If you forget to charge it after one session, you’ll run out of juice ten minutes into the next one. Then you’ll have to drag it to the power source and wait for it to charge. While this can be avoided by charging regularly and being more attentive, it’s really quite annoying when it does happen. No such issues with the 25022.
12 Amp Motor: The motor makes enough power for small to medium residential yards. It will go up slight slopes without a problem. An electric motor has fewer moving parts and typically lasts for longer than a gas powered motor. The Greenworks 25022 makes very few vibrations and hence, it doesn’t cause shoulder and arm fatigue even when used for a longer period of time. It’s surprisingly quiet and makes the mowing experience smooth and pleasant.
Easy Push-Button Start: The mower starts with a simple push of a button. We sort of like the gas powered ones that start with a pull of a cord. However, the novelty wears off quickly and many of them are not really eager to get to work on cold mornings. So then you have to yank of the cord multiple times to get it to work. It’s not a big deal actually, apart from the fact that it feels a little primitive, obsolete and dare-we-say, Neanderthal in this day and age. The 25022 is a simple plug and mow solution – no charging, no refueling, no yanking on cords!
7 Cutting Heights: The height is easily adjustable to 7 positions ranging from 1.5 to 3.75 inches. This guarantees your perfect desired trim, every time. The mower has the power to tackle even thick and moist grass without a problem.
Integrated Cord Lock: This prevents the cord from disconnecting inadvertently. Very useful feature that prevents accidents and frustration. Imagine having to walk back to the power source every time the cord disconnects!
20 Inch Steel Deck: The deck provides the perfect balance between maneuverability and coverage. It’s made out of steel so it’s pretty rugged and can withstand years of use if taken care of properly. The mower is light at roughly 56 pounds so it can be steered without much effort. This enables the driver to achieve a clean look around flower beds, pathways and other obstacles.
High Traction Wheels: The front wheels are 7 inches in diameter while the rear ones, 10 inches. They provide a good amount of grip to allow the blades to do their job effectively even if there’s dew on the grass.
3-in-1: The 25022 is versatile. If you’re going for a clean look, you can rear bag all the clippings. There’s also the option to mulch or side discharge. This helps to insulate the ground and nourishes the soil.
Foldable Handles: As mentioned above, the mower is almost 30-40% than other residential mowers (some of which weight about 80+ pounds). Hence, it’s easy to lift it up and transport if and when required. Also, the handles are foldable and hence the mower takes up a lesser amount of space in the garage.

Greenworks 25022 Electric Lawn Mower Review & Final Verdict:
The Greenworks 25022 is a best-selling model. It does most things right. We recommend it for small to medium plots. The only thing that you might want to consider is that this is a corded mower so you might need to deal with extension cords depending upon the size of your yard. However, other than that, it’s pretty fool proof.
Greenworks has other cordless electric mowers as well. You can check out their reviews here.
